From Blogs to Pods

A Trip to Shadowfell is my first podcast. It follows my friends and I learning to navigate Dungeons and Dragons fourth edition. Give it a look, and subscribe to it, I guess. I'm gonna try and pump a few more of these out...

I Saw Star Trek

I'm sure at this point you have too, so there's no use in telling you about it, I think. I'm revved up for Terminator: Salivation in two weeks. I'm going in expecting it to be mediocre, honestly. I'm just hoping it bests my expectations. I'm actually going to pull the mold I made last week, and try and make my first custom prosthetic. Slawsome, eh? I'm designing some business cards for class, and thought I'd throw 'em up here. Next week's project should be cooler. Look up "multiplicity" on flickr....

(In theory, there will be several versions of the fortunes on the back)

Pork is the King of Meats

So how about pork! I was at the Pecan Street Festival here in beautiful Austin, Texas, when I saw a "free pork" tent. Naturally I hopped in line, but when I saw the ad campaign they were using, it felt like they were trying waaay too hard. Woooo pork! Still trying to work on the website. Kind of. I've been super busy. Haven't had much of a chance to do anything.

Anyway, I caught whiff that Dungeons and Dragons is giving out the starter files for fourth edition. I really have been wanting to play, but I don't have too many friends who want to learn some new rules. Anyway, I'm looking forward to Star Trek Friday, and I'm still stoked about seeing Terminator. So much that for my photoshop class here at school I doctored up some ads for Skynet. Check 'em out.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Review

I'm a fan of X-Men. I really am. Even as bad as X3 was, I found parts in it I dug. I felt it tried to give us too many super powers, without the story. So, going into Wolverine, I figured, they couldn't do worse than that, but didn't expect too much more. I like Wolverine, but felt three movies that mostly centered on him was a bit much, especially as big as the universe of characters is. But a new mutant movie is just that, so I did my civic nerd duty, and went and saw it. Midnight style, as I had the previous two. I was excited that I was going to see Deadpool AND Gambit (who was my favorite as a kid.) So going in with a X3 mindset, I was pleased to find that I really dug the movie. Sure there were a couple of holes here and there, but I had also just watched X2, and that really added to it.

Straight off the bat, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) was amazing. His one liners were right on, and his action scene at the beginning was pretty effin' cool. I was also super happy to see Fred Dukes aka The Blob get some screen time. He seems like an underappreciated character, but he knocks some guys around. The movie was also laced with references, especially to X2, but they weren't spoon fed to you. If you caught glimpse of something then for the most part, it was put there for you to find.

Slawsome!!!
Now some of the CGI wasn't at the top of it's game, and that's something the mouth breathers sitting next to us made sure everyone in the theater heard. They also made sure to narrate the rest of the hour and a half, but that's another story, and another stroke. Gambit was pretty cool, however, the cajun accent left something to be wanted. Anyways, I had fun during this roundabout, and as always, there's a scene after the credits. It's really not much, but just so you know it's there. Don't go in expecting "The Dark Knight", but it's no ''Batman and Robin" either.

Looks like Trek's next....

Happy Daniel Day-Lewis Day

Once again, we here at Enthree Studios are celebrating the birth of the man. The myth. The legend. Daniel Day-Lewis.

Celebrate by watching Gangs of New York, There Will Be Blood, or The Crucible. Eat a steak, drink a milkshake, and down some whisky.

What a Week

Geez. So last week, my step dad had heart surgery. They had to remove some plaque. Guess he didn't brush twice a day. I drove back to San Antonio last night, to see him and my Michigander uncle and aunt. They said to get to his heart, they sliced him open and pulled everything out. That was kinda weird. I got some pics throughout the day. Saw this one on the elevator:

Zombies!!!

Then we headed over to "Natural Bridge Caverns", something I've always driven by on the way to San An but never went. It was neat. The caverns had some cool names ( Grendel's Pit, Valley of the Fallen Lords. I even drank from the "River Styx"). Waaay bigger than Austin's Dinky caverns...

It was really humid for a cave. Anywayzz, afterwards we went antiquing in New Braunfels ( I saw some really cool stuff I wanted, like a wooden pipe and some Sweeney Todd Style blades). This kind of struck me as odd though:

I know it's an old book, but still caught me off guard. I grabbed a coupla ish-es of old Starlogs, that still referred to the third movie of the holiest of trilogies as "Revenge of the Jedi". I needed to grab 'em. Anyway, I came home, and speaking of Intergalactic Civil War (gentrification?) found this link on redoing the entire prequel trilogy. Pretty good stuff. If only, right? Anyhoo, I'm watchin' Empire right now, waiting to fall asleep.

Random Splutzing

First off, let me tell you... It kind of bugs me, for no real reason, when someone says something like "That's disturbing! Hahahaha!". It's not disturbing, obviously, because you're laughing. There are some words that people have become accustomed to using, and by doing so, kind of negates the impact the word once had. I dunno, I'm sure I do it.

Anyway, new Potter Trailer. Rad-ass, huh? I wasn't into the whole thing until the last two movies, but mostly "Order of the Phoenix". I went and bought and read the last two books in two shakes of a lamb's tail. I didn't realize that Wolverine, Star Trek, AND Terminator are all this month.

And finally, Transformers 2. I didn't like the first one. Sorry. But, now that I know the tone of the movies, I wanna see some shit blow UP. There was some new footage this week
that looked pretty good. It's gonna be a good year. For movies, at least...
